How You’ll Show Your Skills!

In Information Technology, just like other subjects, we have a way of checking how awesome you’re becoming! It’s called Assessment, and it’s not as tricky as it sounds.

For Vocational Information Technology:

  • 30% school-based assessment (SBA)
  • 30% portfolio
  • 40% controlled assessment (written exam) in Year 11
  • By the end of the three years, you will obtain a SEC Ordinary Level certification.
  • This is recognised in all post-secondary institutions including MCAST and Junior College.

For Applied Information Technology:

  • A number of assessment tasks, mainly based on practical tasks carried out in class.
  • Each year one of the assessments will be issued centrally by DQSE.
  • Marks obtained over the three years, will amount to the final Applied Vocational Certificate (AVC) result.
  • This is recognised in post-secondary institutions such as MCAST.
